Drawdown: Marin is now MarinCANAfter over 3 years of community-led planning, the identification of 29 local climate solutions, and development of our Strategic Plan, our new name is about what we can do together. MarinCAN accelerate climate action. We are creating a hub for increased coordination so entities throughout the county can work more effectively together to meet greenhouse gas reduction goals, increase community resilience, and meaningfully address and integrate equity in our work. We are excited to continue connecting, supporting, and accelerating the work of our partners. In 2021, we helped secure over $2 million in funding to support 4 MarinCAN endorsed solutions: Zero Emissions Vehicles, Community Resilience Hubs, Marin Biomass Project, and the Marin Carbon Farming Initiative. Root SolutionsBehavior Change How to Guide ALERT: If you are working on anything that aims to change people's actions – from the public to corporate leaders to policy makers (or even your friends) – then the new book Making Shift Happen is a perfect resource. It lays out all the tools needed for behavior change at any level of a system, illustrated through case studies that show the real-world potential of behavior science for a variety of environmental issues, from saving energy to reducing plastic use to encouraging sustainable transportation. Its focus is the environment, but all the tools and techniques are equally applicable to any cause movement. The authors (all from the nonprofit Root Solutions) are offering free webinars in April and May to share more about behavior change, the major barriers that stop us from achieving the actions we seek, and how other organizations have shifted people toward sustainable behaviors by applying the principles laid out. To learn more about this book, the webinars, or behavior change training visit Root Solutions.
